What is this?
Uh-oh it’s a Dinosaur is a long running comic I started in 2009 about some sort of mysterious lizard creature named Kyra. In some ways it’s a slice of life story, but has a bizarre sense of humor to twist things up. The first story arc has been finished containing forty chapters, with a second arc ongoing.
What’s the setup?
As this is a story driven comic it’s best to start at the beginning. The first arc I call “Paul and Kyra” which is about Paul, that loser of a dude on the left, and the aforementioned Kyra. The basic setup is that Paul somehow ends up hiding Kyra in his apartment. She wants to explore the world while he’s content being a sad introvert. Various strange things happen as they explore the surprisingly bizarre world and meet other eccentric characters along the way. No seriously, this world is so weird when you think about it. I’d say something about the second arc but why spoil the fun?
Why the drastic art style changes?
I’ve been making this comic for over a decade, so improvements and changes have been made. The original ten chapters were hand drawn in black & white in the style of issues posted all at once. After that I changed tactics to something easier and more reliable. Pages were now hand drawn but digitally colored and posted one at a time on a schedule. Some of the early chapter breaks seem awkward because I added them in later. Originally it all flowed into the next. I returned to the chapter idea by number 21 so stories could have a break and more focus. Chapter 27 was the first one done completely digital and I’ve been making it that way ever since. The first story arc was completed with chapter 40, and we are currently at the start of the second epic. As of today the comic has bulk updates every Monday.
And you are?
Just a guy who enjoys making webcomics. I’ve been making fun little comics since I was a kid (a long, long time ago) and Kyra’s comic is actually my third original one for the internet. I finished one called 95 Gallons while running another Phil Likes Tacos that’s been going strong since 2002. So yeah, pretty much all I do in my free time is make comics.
