Hello my friends, has it really been two months already? I suppose it’s time for a little update to know what I’m up to and, more importantly, what Kyra is doing. I’m sure it’s trouble – fun adorable trouble! I spent some time relaxing and doing nothing, and the last few weeks I’ve spent cleaning and renovating my whole apartment. It’s be tiring work but one of the things I’ve been putting off for too long, Now that it’s almost done it’s time to start some serious work on finalizing Kyra’s next massive adventure. So here are some thoughts.
I have an idea of changing the updates from Monday & Thursday to just one day a week. However on that day I’d update with as many pages I had made over the past week. That means we could have bonus updates with three pages and single pages on weeks where things don’t go well. It all depends on how my new workflow works, but it’ll certainly be less stressful on me. I’ve also been thinking about if each comic should continue to have a stand-alone feel (like it has since it went to color) or a more flowing every page is connected (like when it started in B&W). One of the things I’ve been looking into.
I’ve started messing around with different art programs, pens, and styles too. Whichever I go with I’m going to make it easier to get pages done. There were too many unnecessary steps into getting my comic to look the way it did, but I’ve been improving on that. Here’s a little example of what it could look like when comparing the new and old way of drawing.![]()
As to when the comic will start updating again … I’m still not sure. Worse comes to worst I’ll start it right away in January 2019 but I would very much like to start earlier before then. I just need to finalize how I’m going to draw it and make sure I have a concrete plan laid out. But then again, so much little details changed over the years of the first story so it’ll be fine! Get a nice website tune up, finally make that Patreon, and hopefully this time I’ll have the confidence in my work to tell people about it!
While you wait you can continue to read my eternal comic Phil Likes Tacos five times a week. You can read a completed comic I made from 2007-08 called 95 Gallons. And don’t forget about my TWITTER and INSTAGRAM where I sometimes update with images like the following. I thank you every time for reading my comic so far, and thank you for waiting and wanting more!
