Kyra is as fun to write as she is to draw. She’s got so much attitude. But I suppose when you have the skills to keep yourself safe you can be this brazen. You could say the army guards would help as well but we all know Kyra. She’d just say they’re slowing her down.
That horrifying moment when I realize I’m going to spend the next month or two having to draw mall stuff. Luckily not every panel or even every page needs one. We just need some establishing shots that doesn’t overshadow what we’re supposed to be looking at. Also, dare I say, I’ve gotten much better at drawing this mall from when I was drawing it in 2016. Gosh, it doesn’t even feel that long ago …
What’s also not long is the next update next Monday what joy!
Also, as requested, here’s the full res of Kyra in her modeling pose

I wonder if they ever repaired the Shopping Ray?
That was ten years ago. They’ve probably done away with that old archaic machine to get people to shop. Now they use a nice fine mist to get you to shop. Comes in several flavors too!
with many more on the way (for an extra premium subscription to Mind-nipulation Monthly of course)!
That proud strut, love it!
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk
I’m a dinosaur, no time to talk
In the dark with EON cold
I’ve been kicked around since I was born
And now it’s alright, it’s okay
And you may look right in my way
We can try to understand
A dinosaur’s better than man
Whether you’re a bother or you’re my meal or other,
You aint, Stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
Feel the city breakin’ and everybody shakin’
You aint, Stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
The perils of being a celebrity!
Hm… maybe Kyra ought to go meet some other regular non-dino celebrities? They could bond over how they also need a security detail and get an exhausting amount of clingy attention from the general public!
…and then Kyra lands a role in a movie, which gives some of those panicky peeps a better context so that “am I going to die?!” fear gets recontextualized as the proper “omg a real-life movie star!” social fear response it oughta be ????
While I’m sure Kyra would have no interest in acting (I get to pretend to do something to trick people into thinking I did it? Can I go outside instead?) The celebrity part is interesting, especially if there are some that generally want to meet her instead of some publicity stunt. No, she’s not going to do a photo shoot to promote your horrible Jurassic World sequel!
Yes obviously it would have to be with a skilled director who won’t typecast her, and uh… make use of plenty of “method acting” sessions? Although I imagine when you’re the only one of your species around it makes finding a suitable role quite hard…
Maybe on a movie where they’re already going to put people in dino suits anyway? Star as the lead dino and also coach the director/actors on authentic dino behaviour ????
I need a Big image of Kyra’s pose in the 2nd to last panel. Fashionista style! Ooooooh that needs to be a story! Model Kyra!
Image added to the comic description and idea added to the idea brain.
Thank-you! So cute and sassy.
I like Panel 8 and the illustration of Kyra detecting people’s emotions. It’s wordless, but conveys the idea very well. Also love the silhouetted electroreceptor spines, subtle detail.
Is there any social situation worse than one where you don’t know whether you can take your phone out or not?
Also that link to 2016 (which when you click is dated 2014) is interesting, because I actually did not have something on my computer I was embarrassed about… but just three months later, I did
Kyra is a good mimic of human faces but even she has her limits. “Hrmm, I can’t do THAT one.” Neither can I, Kyra.
