Those were certainly . . interesting . . awards Charles came up with. But ha, he did fool Kyra. With her keen senses of smell and hearing, Charles must be almost overwhelming to her. I can see why she usually stays in Luna’s room.
Uh oh, that creepy neighbor is about to get even creepier. How dare a child make a loud noise! But guess it’s not rude to spy on your neighbors with binoculars.
Actually, hearing and tasting are the two senses we can do better than her. She’s mentioned before our big ears pick up more than she can, and pointed out she only has strong bitter taste buds. But those eyes and nose are leagues above ours. As for Charles I think it’s less about Kyra being annoyed by him but her wanting to spend time with Luna. However there’s plenty more pages and chapters for that!
I also would want to spend more time with a sweet, quiet person than a loud, smelly, overly energetic one, especially at bedtime. (But I do love both characters.)

10/10 would do the same though. I certainly would. Some pain is worth taking. That probably explains my love for peperoni on pizza. That turned random fast.
You are right, MNblitz. Did not expect of all people to trouble Kyra, it would be a energy filled boy with no sense of courtesy.
Also the neighbour calling his neighbours rude while holding the binoculars he is using to spy on them, rude right back at ya!
That look of realisation on Kyras face though. Did I ever say how I love all her expressions? I know I did but I want to say it anyway.
If we go all the way back to page 939 the museum curator mentioned they’re “coarser than I thought” If you go give Kyra a big old hug it’ll be nice and fluffy, but if you’re too to careful they can be kind of rough. And yeah, I imagine her scales would be even worse.
It’s funny, because it is fun to draw Kyra with all her bold expressions. The times where she just stares blankly being funnier because of that. Meanwhile with this page I was also “oh Charles just has a really big mouth again, oh dear”
Rough dino proto-feathers. Also, is that Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie? A great choice for bedtime reading!
I wonder if the townsfolk will ever find Hamster Huey’s head?
Maybe they’ll find out in the sequel, Commander Coriander Salamander and ‘Er Singlehander Bellylander.
