You know, crows are capable of passing off information to their offspring.

For example, it’s been observed that they will teach their offspring how to recognize researchers that they feel have “wronged” them, so the children will recognize them and attack on sight even without ever having personally encountered those researchers before. (It’s true, look it up!)

All that to say, I wonder if these crows are the descendants of the original Friend Crow, and they passed along the message of “Kyra’s cool, help her out”.
