I think Kyra hit 256 on the imagination meter and rolled back to 1. I love the paradox of her disliking videos for “not being real.” When she’s the first one to dive into the land of make-believe otherwise.
Maybe she should practice imagining smells to go along with the fuzzy flashing flat square. Maybe get her a scratch n’ sniff smellovision card.
Context matters a lot too. For Kyra there’s a huge difference between pretending to be space ship captains by running around outside using your imagination and by using a board with rules to do it this one single way. There’s more to it than that when it comes to TV and such, but she’ll get into that a little more on the next page.
Talk about an old comment but this makes me wonder how she would / will? (I still have 300 strips to go to catch up!) respond to D&D or tabletop games like that. Where there are default rules but you can bend them however you want, where it involves a lot of imagination but you accent it with boards, models, sheets, etc.
