Ah… I think I get it now. Kyra has an aversion to simulations because of how she was raised in the lab, trapped and only able to experience what she was shown. Now that she’s free, she only wants to experience things for real, for better or worse.
This also explains why she disassociates drawings from any other form of simulation, even though she flat out says they’re the same thing here without realizing it. Paul’s drawings were the only thing that made her happy back then.
