Nooo I hate self checkouts so they still need regular cashiers too. Plus people to help out everyone who runs into problems on those stupid new ones.
On the bright side, I heard the karaoke restaurant is hiring.
This is what happens when you demand too much money for a crappy job.
Boy, that’s a can of worms too big for this story to open. Hoping to get through this in one piece and get on with the rest of whatever the heck is going to happen next.
Consider how the world would grind to a halt without “crappy” jobs like cashier or janitor being filled
Janitors actually get paid pretty decently.
But no matter how important a job may be to be filled, there’s always a limit to what it can pay before there’s a cheaper way to do it.
Someone is in desperate need of spending time around actual businessmen to understand them better. Decisions like this aren’t made with a smile or just to increase profits without any other considerations.
I’ve put up with this for a while on both your comics, waiting for understanding of your point, but now I just sense you have some kind of personal vendetta against businessmen in general. It’s wearying, and also a bit insulting as a business owner myself.
Think this is the last nail; I don’t plan to continue reading. Good luck anyway.
Well noted and taken to heart. I get a huge kick out of exaggerating situations, but have been called out in the past for taking it to some eye rolling levels. Always good to have a reminder when I get out of hand in a way that’s not enjoyably silly. We’ll have some of that later.
As for this one it’s funny because I get along great with my boss and their boss. And I’ve worked with THEIR boss and the boss above that and they’re all good people. But that’s not what my stories are about. I write about the ones that I’ve heard from friends and family or experienced myself. The ones who lied, broke promises, or where indifferent on all our problems. Phil and Paul work with the frustrating people. Luckily most people in business aren’t like that or we wouldn’t have any businesses!
Well Mr “Anonymous,” since this isn’t my comic, I’m going to call you out on your bullcrap.
There is nothing in here to suggest this wasn’t done “without any other considerations.” There’s nothing here targeted at businessmen or business in general. Bringing in new equipment to increase productivity is a very real thing that has happened since the dawn of time, and continues today with no signs of slowing down. The way this comic has approaching it is the way it approaches everything, with exuberant exaggeration to paint what the main character feels.
You, sir, are intentionally misreading this so that you can have something to be upset about.
