Wow! Quite an unexpected twist for the big reveal!
I KNEW it had to be something like this! She was hyper logical, but oddly emotional and obsessive too. I thought I was getting GlaDOS vibes from her!
This comic first published in 2009 but I had been developing it for years before that, just in time to be influenced by 2007’s game Portal. It’s funny because the years after that I saw I wasn’t the only one influenced by GlaDOS and briefly thought about chickening out in case it became a cliche. But that would have been silly! I’ve got the setup and the story, and now we’re finally here after all these years yay!
Well, this was a triumph. I’m making a note here: huge success! It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction.
Holy craaaaaaaaaap it just hit me. This puts Kyra’s distaste for screens and simulations in general on a whole new level!
Also, Stoar is a pretty cool guy.
I hoped to have a few things in this comic that would change on a second viewing. Kyra making fun of the feathers birds get, her hatred of computers and screens, and of course how Eon is pretty much light by computer monitors but not for the reason “that it looks cool”
And once again, the “evil villain” Stoar seems to be someone who just doesn’t understand the situation. Now to learn about Eon I suppose …
What? Ha ha, wow!
*applauds*
Hmm, that makes it look like Eon is a computer program!
…Or maybe a shadow person!
Wait, if Stoar is “misunderstanding the situation,” does that mean even he doesn’t know what Eon is?
He has been shown to be quite behind on technology and it’s been alluded to Eon being “tricked” into this position. The only tech thing he seems to understand is an appreciation of the right way to listen to a record.
After reading back over earlier pages, suddenly all the odd things about Eon make sense! Such as how she was left alone in an abandoned building, among other things. I probably would have questioned this earlier if the rest of the comic hadn’t trained me to expect things to not make sense.
I tried one last thing to maybe throw people off by showing empty food containers on the floor of the fifth panel of this comic https://itsadinosaur.com/comic/dino_894/ but it’s so dark and spooky you can’t see it anyway, heh. And yes, I’m glad nobody brought up the question “so does Eon just live there or something” Luckily big questions like that I didn’t bring up often because they’re not supposed to be the focus point. But now is the time for a few answers!
Well, considering that it was so long ago… you can easily add another screen to it and call it a day.
YAY I was wondering if anybody was going to catch that one!
If you look closely you can see two bars to the left and right of her head on the top. Those are the edges of a monitor that was SUPPOSED to be there but I forgot to color in the white space. Now that somebody found it I can (eventually) go back and fix it XD
Uuugh, I should’ve suspected this when Eon said “my sensor” in the last comic
