Page 5/5 update

Oh boy, here we go into a whole new set of stories. New way to update, new way to read, and new adventure that takes TEN YEARS past our last one I guess. Lots of time for people go grow! And I gotta tell ya, nothing’s grown more than the actual comic page! While it looks beautiful on my phone screen it’s going to take some getting used to it on my far lower resolution monitor. It looks TOO big to me but I’m always too hard on every page I make, heh. I’ll keep working on it to make it better.

Until then be sure to leave lots of comments and thoughts on how things are going so far. I know what I think, but I’m only one of the readers! See you next Monday for more pages.

So catching us up with the present day, since Kyra presumably escaped in 2009(ish)?

I can see the advantage of the new schedule. This opening sequence is almost like a movie intro. Flows a lot better read all at once. I can almost hear music (Jurassic Parkish music) and see cinematography.

Around there, yeah. An oversight I had in the first story arc was giving everybody phones as that still quite hadn’t taken off to that level yet. That’s why it’s pretty vague.

I’m looking to give the comic a better flow. Not being forced to give each page a hard stop “needs a big joke here” can be quite helpful.

How do you pronounce her name anyway? is it KIE-ruh of KIR-a?

On one hand it’s a comic with no audio so it doesn’t matter until you meet other readers, so it can be whatever you want in your head.

On the other hand it’s k-i-ra with the “i” sound, hehe

No Kyra yet. You are a cruel, cruel person making us wait.

Presumably the kyra-coloured blob hugging him in the photo, conveniently hidden by his mug is her,

While it’s hard to be sure, there is a LOT of superfluous sticking-out shapes that don’t logically line up with toes or claws. Calling it now, future Kyra is fully feathered… that or he’s hugging a pile of leaves.

I’m standing by:

For adventure!

On a somewhat more technical note, the pages look lovely and fine on my regular ol’ computer screen, and “paaaaark” may be the single finest sound effect I’ve ever seen written in a comic.

Mike

Good to hear! It’s always weird to draw then in such high resolution then shrink them down so they can be read on a screen (the originals are, like, four times this size for detail and printing if that ever comes up)

And that’s what great about comics, is that there’s no wrong way to spell a sound effect. Anything can be an onomatopoeia!

Paul is way too happy to be in an office ????

I get the juicy storytelling reasons for a time skip, but now I can’t help but ponder what those 10 years we missed out on were like as well. Have you been tempted to do any flashbacks or midquels after this current story?

But on the plus side, being grown up now means more chances to see DINO OUTFITS! ????

There will be key flashbacks for important characters at the right time. If anything it’s those humans who’ve gone through the most! And oh gosh yes, I’m so excited that I can finally start sharing the older Kyra style I’ve been working on for years XD

It’s bizarre to me that there would still be so many protesters 10 years later. You’d think after so many years of nothing bad happening people would just get bored with it (especially in this world, where it’s been established people get bored/distracted from things extremely easily).

UNLESS … unless Kyra just recently did something which stirred up the bees’ nest. Hmmm …

Maybe! She is a trouble maker. On page 918 they also pointed out that it’s an abnormal amount and “This year’s election stuff is a big deal to them” so something might be going on. But more importantly, it was pointed out that there isn’t a lot of good movies in the theater at the moment.

Okay, here is an actual question: Are you considering doing any storylines that are flashbacks to times in between the time jump? Because honestly I was really looking forward to Kyra’s first experiences with autumn and winter.
