So far not so good I guess.  I wouldn’t worry though because Kyra loves to make all sorts of friends.  I’m sure she can work something out.  Unless she’s in a bad mood that is.  Oh, is she?  Well never mind then, we’ll just have to hope they’re understanding cows.

I try to spend some spare time trying to improve designs and characters and draw things.  One of the two major aspects of Kyra I’ve been working on recently is Kyra’s toothy grin (or frown with how everything’s been going)  That dinosaur shaped face is odd but the practice has really pulled through the past few pages.  Here’s another one I made.  They say sometimes you just got to grin a bear it, but they probably didn’t have murderous teeth in mind.

Well, she wanted them to say something new

The smile looks great, but if you’re still having trouble, one thing that’s helped me when drawing carnivorous characters is to draw the canines. Everything else sort of falls into place after that

Dinosaurs don’t have canines, though. In fact, I could be wrong about this, but I think canines are exclusive to mammals.

Generally speaking, carnivore dinosaur species only have two types of teeth. The teeth at the front of the mouth are more conical shaped and are designed for pulling the flesh off of their prey, while the teeth further back in the mouth are more blade-like to help cut the meat down to size before they swallow.

Teeth are fine, it’s the weird long shape the mouth can be in. It’s more like a dragon than a dinosaur, or if the Trex’s snout kept moving down so it had more forward vision. I found help in an unexpected place though because people love drawing sharks with sharp teeth and they have long round noses too. I’m sure Kyra would be excited to learn animals like that are helping her design.

This might seem weird, but sometimes my favorite drawings you make are the teeny-tiny ones, like Kyra and those cows in panel 7.

“Cows are smarter than people give them credit for”

I once saw a cow literally run in front of a moving truck and proceed to just stand there

This was not a slow moving truck (the cow was not hurt too badly, the truck managed to slow down so that the impact was at a very slow speed, would have probably hurt a person, but the cow was big enough to shrug it off)

I mean, I know one cow being dumb is not a fair representation of the entire species, but it certainly doesn’t help their image
