Oh hello, I’m on a little break right now because I finished the chapter. Next week I’ll drop the cover and name of the upcoming and exciting chapter 43. Now, what to do about this week?
Ah! Now I know I’ve shown these before but I couldn’t see them anywhere on the site. If you haven’t seen them before, well, happy 10th anniversary! First is a very old test page of the Kyra comic concept. As you can see this is before I created Paul so the comic was missing a good second character, and look at how weird that early Kyra is! The second is the original first page of the comic. In the long run based on the massive length of this comic a slower start would have been better, but I probably didn’t expect to get near a thousand pages ten years later.
But if you’re a long time fan maybe you’ve seen those already. Well alright then, have some more wonderful art of me developing teenage Kyra. First is the earliest “good” picture of teen Kyra from August 2016. Second is her in some clothes, as the long shirt idea’s been around for a while (and apparently a hat was a thing?) Finally some nice looking sketches of Kyra hands which have unfortunately been hidden by those annoying human clothes so far. Maybe next time I’ll be able to show the design process of some other characters who haven’t shown up yet? Soon …

As someone who has tried to put hats on birds, and with Kyras head scales basically being feathers I imagine the aviators hat idea was short lived.
Short lived as in the hat itself was short lived.
Though that does make me want to see Kyras reaction to flying in a plane!
There were actually a few different hat ideas I had for Kyra. I was still in TF2’s horrible grip at the time so hats where a thing. Mostly gave it up because her big head feathers were too beautiful to hide. I bet her body feathers don’t like all the shirts and stuff they make her wear too, as if she didn’t need more reasons to be annoyed by them.
I suppose someday we’ll have to try and put her on a plane. We know she likes trains, but that’s also another story I suppose.
I think she looks great in that hat and colors. Its an overused descriptor for Kyra, but its definitely ‘Cute’!
Indeed, the golden yellow shirt will probably have to show up someday. Definitely a hand me down from Beatrice!
Breaks are a wonderful thing. Getting to relax a little and take your mind off of something that was all so present allows for new energy when eventualy breaking the break.
Even though I doubt that you use your time that way. Kyra is a persistent presence now and who would want it any other way. After all it can be just as refreshing to have a free pacing. And Kyra certainly wants a break, too!
And to me it seems like the first teen kyra picture is like a jounger version of current kyra. Can’t figure out what makes her look jounger, tough. Just a sidethought.
Note: I just noticed the Kyra smile from the tab on the top of my screen. Before it was a standard symbol to me. Nice addition, since I tend to have tons of tabs open. Now I will be faster in finding the right one!
I’m certainly trying to relax, heh. I’m pretty sure Kyra herself has no need for breaks when there’s so much to do! I suppose the first picture she’s more stringy and gangly, giving her a younger look. And yes, I found the option to give my sites tabs so they’re finally there!
I also noticed the favicon addition, well done!
Looks like a Kyra in the Virtual world about to burst out here to play.
