Aww, don’t feel too bad Kay. Yeah you have a long way to go but being able to play that well by memory is an accomplishment, even if you weren’t just fourteen years old. Heck, look at how old I am and still have so much more I need to learn about drawing!
Way back whenever I started planning these chapters a thought kept going through my mind – how do you show MUSIC in a COMIC? It’s a fun thought experiment I’ve been thinking about and I hope I’m on to something here. I’m hoping you can feel or at get a sense of what Kay is experiencing when she plays even if you can’t hear it or know what it is. If you give up and just need to know what she’s playing, though, it’s “All Apologies” by Nirvana. I’ve also been having fun learning about music and how to draw guitars so this page has been extra fun! And I don’t even know if this chapter is going to be about music!
So until then Kay, just keep trying to cheer up. Otherwise Kyra will have to help you.

I like the way you’ve portrayed harmonies. Very stylish. And the way the music adds color to Kay’s dismal room is a very nice touch.
Another thing I had to think about when designing this is that I can’t read guitar chords. So I went for something that hopefully makes sense even if you know nothing about music. Or at the very least … it looks nice, heh.
Even though I did not know the song, I got the Idea behind what the notes are supposed to mean and that is great accomplishment in my eyes, regarding the difference of music and drawings.
Also I most certainly tried to imagine every note and how it would sound!
Taking the time to actually find the notes and write them out is a lot of work that most people couldn’t read anyway. Heck, Kay is playing the guitar and I can’t read guitar chords myself!
Kyra got Kay to smile . . . sort of . . .
I like how the colors strengthen when she’s getting into the song, only to get ripped back into dark and desaturated when she plays a sour note.
Heheh, a good experiment, but I guess you’d have to know the song to even get a clue what it would be. That or maybe know how to read notes.
I know neither.
Still, cool visuals!
Knowing what the song exactly IS isn’t important. What’s important is if you can see how it FEELS. At the very least it is cool looking!
The Ratatouille solution is the best solution
I have a feeling I should be recognizing this song
It’s in the description but to make it easier
