What beautiful pages and an amazing dinosaur. But enough about that, I have a lot to talk about so let’s go! First of all, those are all real songs and here they are for your enjoyment if you don’t recognize them. The first one is actually from one of my most favorite bands, and one of my most favorite albums (The Waterfall)
“Like a River” – My Morning Jacket
“Find the River” – R.E.M.
“Just Around the Riverbend” – Pocahontas
“Proud Mary” – Creedence Clearwater Revival
“Take Me to the River” – Talking Heads
“Rippy the Gator” – The Arrogant Worms
This week is Kyra’s birthday! I started the comic on Sep 3 and later realized sure, that can be Kyra’s actual birthday too. While she’s still “almost thirteen” in the comic, I’ve been working on it for seventeen years now. GOSH! And there’s still so much to do! I have big plans for what happens after this chapter, but I probably won’t get to that until next year. GOSH! I’ll probably make some sort of birthday drawing this week too.
Next, apparently Aug 28 is “national big boob day” I guess. Okay. I was going to ignore it until I wondered – what would happen if somebody directly said it too Ann? Naturally (heh) she would do what she always does and overwhelm you with her kindness.

And finally, I had something for this planned but haven’t had a good spot to put it into the actually comic. I do now, but it’s still a few chapters away. And so, because I can see you’re all so worried, at some point Kyra convinced Wild Stray to live with Ann where she spent rest of her life fat and lazy.

Nice artwork in panel 5. I like the reflections on the water.
Also, I’m glad to see that Wild Stray was well cared for.
Thanks! I’ve been happy at how a lot of these nature shots have been turning out
Gorgeous peaceful art. Made me wanna go out rowing on a lake.
Also, very glad Wild stray had a peaceful life. Hmm, have we seen how Kyra deals with the passing of old friends yet?
Thanks! That these panels are still staying interesting is good to hear.
I suppose we haven’t seen that in the comic yet, but after ten years I’m sure she’s already outlived many of her animal friends. Will have to add that to the list, haha
Happy Birthday, Kyra! Great comics. Keep up the good work. Very realistic outdoor scenery – nicely drawn.
Thanks! Since she’s not into sweets Kyra will break something and say it’s the equivalate of getting a birthday cake
Did she give Wild Stray a proper name or did they just stick with that?
Also I feel like this was hinted at before. Maybe my memory is betraying me, but didn’t Ann have a cat that resembled Wild Stray suggesting that maybe she had kittens at some point? It’s going to take me forever to find that comic and confirm.
A lot of this has not been mentioned before. I think it’s safe to say Ann got her two cats after Wild Stray, who probably kept that name. The details of Ann getting her new cats hasn’t come up, so feel free to make some head canon haha
Happy Birthday Kyra!
Yes, many ways to say the water is wet, but they’re sung, so they’re usually cool.
That river looks so inviting.
Glad to see Wild Stray had a fulfilling life.
And no, if anything, the river would turn into Lake Placid.
Thanks! All this water is fun and I’m glad it’s turning out well.
At one point I thought of stretching this part out into a third page because I enjoyed all these river poems and what not, but I figured everybody gets the idea already, heh
Oh wow Happy Birthday to Kyra! Can’t believe we’ve already had 17 years of Kyra, her friends and their high jinks. And your ideas are still going strong (loud applause).
I’d love to be Kyra, floating along in a canoe with my fingers trailing in the water. Just looking at your beautiful drawings is so peaceful. Heh, could Kyra be any more relaxed in that 6th panel?
So here’s to another 17+ years!
Thanks! So many years of making Kyra … and depending on my plans I could theoretically only be half done. GOSH!
Happy Birthday Kyra!
Maybe she would prefer a dance reflecting water? Does that exist? hmmm
Water dancing does exist, but that is not the same as a dance of water.
Anyway … i realy enjoy Kyra just seemingly enjoying herself for once! Forgetting all the bad and boring things and getting to just be herself. All around a feel good Chapter so far. *squee*
Glad to hear. Maybe if water bending from Avatar was real she would get into that … before turning to earth or fire bending
