There will be no update next week because I am taking a short break
No, this isn’t because a new Fire Emblem game came out. We’re about at the half way point of the story, which is where the average chapter has ended. I originally thought about splitting the chapter in two because I envisioned it being so long, but instead I decided to make it the mega halfway through teenage years chapter 60 mega chapter. We’ll talk about what that means some other day. As much as I don’t like taking breaks, I probably should to make sure I don’t get burnt out. Plus there’s some things I’ve been putting off, but mostly I can spend a lot of time writing the next part to make sure it’s perfect. I’m not sure I can reach my goal of having this chapter done by the end of the year, but I hope so!
Hopefully this will hold you over for an extra week. I was messing around with the animation features of Clip Studio Paint and made this little baby Kyra loop. Cute! See you in two weeks.

Take whatever break you need man! You draw a lot more then anyone could reasonably ask for, your panels are always so stuffed with great details!
This project should never be something that you burn yourself out over.
Also, that’s an adooorable Kyra animation. Nice!
Thanks, I do what I can. I suppose sometimes I get frustrated thinking that with my current output – if I go with the planned three main sections of the Kyra story I won’t be done until the year 2045. But I’m sure that would just make everyone excited for that much Kyra haha.

45!? Wow! That’s quite the epic tale you got planned.
I don’t say this because I want less of Kyra. Not at all. I enjoy the slice of life pace of the comic.
But have you thought of abridging it?
Maybe its not that you should draw faster, you might have look over some of your plans and ‘kill your darlings’ as the phrase goes in writing. Making the journey between pivotal moments shorter.
I’m not going to worry about it until part 2 is done at chapter 80 to decide where it goes next, haha. Heck, I’m thinking about what the next 20 chapters are going to be but I’m not even worrying about THAT until this chapter is done.
There’s also not much to cut out, as there’s very little “major” story but a bunch of fun side stuff. Most of the baby Kyra stories in part 1 where zany slice of life stuff with some EON or Bill stuff here or there. Where is THIS part even going? The answer is crazy complicated and if you asked me ten years ago I would have given you a completely different answer. But again, no need to worry about it as I’m not going to worry about it until next year.
Just know that I potentially could write many stories of Kyra at many phases of her life. We’ll see how it goes!
Yeah we want you to enjoy drawing your comics at your own pace. So by all means, take a little break. Every week I marvel at all your scenery and wonder how much time you put into it!

I have been enjoying drawing all these trees and whatnot.
Now to spend time getting everything written down for what happens next!
I hope Cathryn opens up to Kyra more. Never good to hold feelings in. And now we know what Kyra needs, a slingshot! Bill would have so much fun!
