Sometimes some of the first comic ideas you come up with in a story years ago get to come up right away like this family’s discussion.  Sometimes I have to sit on them for months even years until I get to that cool part or interesting line I thought up so long ago.  Or everything will be awesome and every update is exciting.  Yeah, I think I’ll do that one.

Speaking of updates, we’ll see what the upcoming weeks bring.  I’m going off to visit family for a whole bunch of days so we’ll see what I can get done.  At least a page the next two Monday’s for sure.  Hopefully one of these days Kyra can get to that farm or whatever.  Have a picture either way.

Congratulations! You’ve written politics that make me just as mad as real life politics!

I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, haha
Seriously though, I’m hoping to keep things as simple and vague as I can with political stuff. The safest way is to just ignore it, but there are too many good story possibilities in this set-up to ignore. I’ll probably talk about it some other time but I’ve, uh, had to make major cuts and changes to some original stories based on, shall we say, current events?

Pfft, come on, every good story has politics if you think about it. Snow White? Everyone hates the government because of sneaky magical coverups. Cinderella? Constitutional crisis over the prince not having a wife. Sleeping Beauty? Treaty gone wrong. If you have people thinking about the politics of your story, you’re doing good!

IMO, the traditional desire to avoid bringing politics into stories doesn’t apply to what’s going on right now because our current political situation so far out of the ordinary and so all-consuming that you *can’t* ignore it. We’re in the middle of something big, and if it’s relevant to your story I think it would be a mistake to ignore it out of fear of riling people’s politics.

I’ve got the main political story arc already set in stone, which has already had a few of the tiniest hints. Stories evolve over time as you write them, as what I’m going to do is quite different than ideas I had three years ago.

After that, I’m still deciding on deciding how deep or direct I want to go after some topics or ideas. This comic can get pretty wacky and over-exaggerated, but it can be hard to write parody when so much is a sick joke. But I DO have something planned and I’m expecting to have more as I perfect stories worthy enough to tell.
