44- Dangerous

44- Dangerous published on 11 Comments on 44- Dangerous

Oh no such a terrifying chapter title!  And such a terrifying monster attacking that poor child!  Nine year old Kyra makes me smile because she’s so lanky at this point.  She needed a few more years to grow properly, just like all animals!  Speaking of which, Kay doesn’t seem too bother by angry dinosaur.  Oh, what if SHE is the dangerous one?  No, it’s defiantly Kyra, she was lethal as a baby.

Pages should start like normal next week because I don’t know what else to do with my time.  Work has been weird so hopefully that won’t get in the way.  I’ve also really gotten into reading The Far Side while playing Splatoon 2 but we’ll ignore that, heh.  Since it looks like I can finish three chapters a year I guess that means I already have all three chapters for 2020 planned which is quite a thought.

So until then, enjoy this funny little video I made using audio from The Powerpuff Girls.  In case you’re wondering I’ve always picture Kyra with a low gravelly voice, so if anything this would be closer to baby Kyra than teenage Kyra.  She would sound like a scary beastly to make you uneasy like she was … dangerous?  Oh ho ho!

I always did wonder what Kyra sounds like. Is there something out there on the web that is a close approximation to how you imagine it?

P.S. The face she’s making while Paul runs away made me laugh out loud.

I’d imagine EG Daily voice of Buttercup from PPG, Hinoka from Fire Emblem Fates, Chucky from Rugrats etc could do it. She can make that great raspy voice I’d image Kyra has. Ultimately as it’s just a comic you can hear whatever you want. Some in the comic described her having an “accent” which is another way of something sounding off when you first hear her talk. Must be that mouth full of teeth or just being too mighty.

Kyra posing for Kay! But brown hair? And you mention nine year old kyra? Am I confused by something because I thought it was 10 years and not brown.
Flashback incoming?

Also I saw that animation on twitter with sound at first and thought like: An animation, this is cool!
Then I noticed you could turn sound on.. and it just got awesome! I wonder if you will play more with animations like this. Not necessarily in the comic, but in general.

And 2020 all planed with the comic is crazy to me. the foresight! But it would explain how your comic is such a quality work.
Looking forward to next week, starting the “Dangerous” chapter. I am wondering who the Dangerous is going to refer to. Could it be … Kay? Just kidding xD

Kay, Jill’s daughter, has brown hair. In the new story arc she has that purple color on the left side now.

As for the timeline the first story arc took place when Kyra was two, Kay was four, and Ann was nine. It’s been a decade since so now they’re twelve, fourteen, and nineteen. HOWEVER you are right and there are flashbacks. We saw a glimpse here on 1006 when Kyra was nine and Ann was sixteen. This is the same time period on this cover, Kyra is nine and Kay is eleven.

If it helps, flashback 9yo Kyra is lanky and her head feathers are in a mohawk shape. Modern 12yo Kyra is a little bigger and has the afro thing. This whole comic arc is going to be about 12yo Kyra with only the occasional flashbacks so that will make it even easier heh.

And yes, that means there will be flashbacks. Lots of important stuff over her important life happen.

Love the video: how Kyra’s movements match the voice so perfectly plus the look on Paul’s face as he runs away. Love how Kay just smiles at “ferocious” Kyra. And I love flashbacks – bring ’em on!

On the cover:
“Raar!”
“You forget I already know you. You don’t look black to me”
“um… RAAR!”
“♪keeep tryyiiing”

On the video:
Shouldn’t have watched it at work. Laughed so much they came into my office to check if I was all right. Thanks for that ????!

Oh to be able to stare down that terrifying face and think “I wonder if she’ll want to play catch later after I’m done with my homework.” What a lucky kid! Most people probably aren’t that lucky, heh

Paul and his coworkers can attest that Kyra is indeed quite distracting at work,
