Problems, problems, everybody’s got problems. I guess you could say Beatrice is just as busy as a bee. Oh wait, I wasn’t even meaning to make a bee pun there it just happened. Those are the best ones when they sneak up like that on you. You know what doesn’t sneak up on you? Knowing that you have to upgrade and maintain expensive machines. Sure people get tired, but you can teach them new things. I too am tired so off to bed I go until next week’s update … or however that works.

Oh no, I forgot to put a title on the second book! It was probably going to be something like 1001 ways to be a sane parent, though it probably wouldn’t have fit. Well it’s right here now, so that’s something!

I’m sure it was great for the first few years! Then as soon as they introduce something unexpectedly new like phone scanning, credit card chips, or unusual products they were all “uh oh we can’t teach the robots how to work with those in a thirty second video”
Good ol’ corporate penny pinching. “Surely we’ll save more money by not updating our cashiers then we’ll lose by driving away customers!”
“You just need to upgrade them with this sensor to read the new credit card chips”

The implied power of the “Northern House Crystal” frightens me, too.
I’m sure she already HAS snapped at some point, probably several times. Thing is, you can’t really frighten artificial employees into doing what you want. I assume that’s why she looks so defeated.

ANd then Bea manages to be kind and sharing her findings with them. They don’t deserve Bea. Good that they just went on about how great they are for ridiculous things.
And for some reason penny doesn’t look a day older to me, how odd.
And then these robots. Not updated for ten years? Of course not, since the comic jumped 10 years, no updates have been made for that timeframe about them :P
